I did plan to go but i woke up slightly late because i subconciously canceled my alarm twice. By the time i got ready and entered the car, the clock showed 7.22..... i drove until a school nearby and got stucked in a jam. That's when i gave up and made U-turn home to join my bed which was ever ready to accept me, anytime.
Speaking of bed, i'll be getting my desk real soon and i'm still looking for a display/book shelf in white.
Before i go on to the bangkok trip, let me tell you something terrible that happened to Jack. We brought Jack for a haircut because cny is coming and he came back with a BROKEN EAR
Poor fella got his ear snipped by one of the groomers and this auntie which i think must be the owner/owner's wife was rather annoying (with tattooed eyebrow and annoying speech) told us it was a minor cut and quickly collected the full amount before we were able to see him. Stupid lady. She told us it was a minor cut because their scissors are all imported from Japan and bla bla bla and so it is really sharp and bla bla bla and that Jack was not being obedient and he shaked his head while they were cutting his fur, so they accidently cut his ears.
WAH WAH WAH. if dogs dont move or shake their heads, then my dad would be a better groomer than you all idiots lor. I like la, my dog can move all he wants because he's a living creature not an i-dog, you morons!
Poor fella but lucky he is alright now, or else i'll be back with an imported scissors to snip that lady's ears off! hmpf!As for the bangkok trip, i really love love love that place for its cheap bargains for clothing and accesories. Its so cheap there it made sg wang looks like Pavilion. erm.. abit exagerrated. But somewhat there la.
With the love, comes the hatred. It's so blardy jam there! anyday, anytime of the day... the road is filled with cars and that's what i got to experienced the moment i got down from the airport. Massive jam all the way to the hotel. Because i have a grand aunt there who's a thai, alot of things are made easier. She got us amazing hotel rates for 120/night inclusive of breakfast for 2 which was supposed to cost 180. It was only walking distance to china town and just right beside Hua Lamphong MRT station!
She's the greatest grand aunt a.k.a tour guide i've got! She of teochew descent and is thai-born because my great grandfather re-married at bangkok. So, she's my grandmother's half sister. Abit confusing but its ok. She can even speak cantonese because she really was a tour guide many years back! Our first dinner with my grandauntie, Ratchani at Jea Ngor Kitchen that serve chinese food.
...and also where i ate this weird kangkung without its leaves.... but it tasted really nice and different. After dinner, we went to Patpong night market and Silom area. Patpong night market is very much like petaling street night market with item's price marked up real high for tourist.
My grand aunt came to join us every morning and brought us wherever we wanted to go, offering her advice on where to go and where not to go. Most of the time the places me and my sister would like to go she would say "her go bo mit kia boi gai..." (there got nothing to buy one). That is why we ended up in China town most of the time because she claims all these tourist attractions get their items from china town. But she's really nice la, she got us cab without having taxi drivers to cheat us tourists cause we can't speak thai. The 2nd day we were there, she and her husband who's about 82 years old and still plays the piano and organ at home, singing karaokae at times treated us lunch at the Emerald Hotel's famous Daiichi Japanese Buffet. Sad for me cause i don't fancy japanese food. I kept stuffing myself with tempura prawns and ice creams.
The best thing in Bangkok was shopping! Added bonus was that grand aunt was our translator and could bargains for us whenever me and my sister eye on something. There wasnt much bargaining actually when she's around simply because she's local.
I heart Pratunam! The entire stretch of road is filled with shopping malls just like singapore's orchard road. Of course, i like pratunam better. That simply mean, it's also another freaking jam area added with the already jam bangkok where most taxis refuses to go.
1 day is definately enough for this. You need at least 3 whole day if you were to shop in all the malls there. I think i only went into a few because most malls, grand aunt would say "her go bo mit kia boi gai..."
The best mall to me was the Platinum fashion mall! i went there for twice on 2 different say because i couldnt get enough. The entire mall of 5 stories are dedicated to girls with 3 whole stories for girl's clothes (tredier and even cheaper than sg wang), 1 whole storey for shoes and another storey for bags! Each stories has row and rows of shop lots selling clothes and accesories. Clothes were as cheap as 100bath (rm10) to 300bath (rm30) most! Most of them have 2 different prices. One for wholesale and individual sale though i think its more like a sales gimmick cause you can actually bargain for the wholesale price even though you're just buying 1 pcs.
I forgot about taking pictures because i was too taken away by shopping.
Oh, suprisingly... bangkok is not as hot as it is when i was there. In fact, the breeze is rather cold at times because... erm, bangkok, at this time of the year is furthest from the tropic. In fact, i just read some news online that emergency was declared in some parts of thailand because temperature fell as low as 13 degree celcius on Monday, 13th. Wao, thats like right after we left..
I had to tie my hair for this picture because the wind was fooling with my hair.
Notice my unflattering attire? this is what they made me wear into the palace because i'm too sexayy.
Nola... we're not allowed to wear sleeveless into the palace because its a sacred place and yada yada so we had to rent this shirt which made me look like a janitor. Someone from fb actually thought it was part of my attire or some kind of uniform. wtf.
Last but not least, we went to the famous weekend market at Chatuchak. We told mum and dad the night before that we have to go no matter what because it's rated No.1 online for top 10 shopping destination in bangkok. How can we miss it!
We went there by the MRT, about 20 stations from us!
because that place has hell lots of things to buy lor!! I forget about taking pictures when i shop, sorry.
Its the biggest and most happening market i've been to.. but we didnt had enough time to walk the entire place and was afriad of getting lost.
When we left, mum told me she went to one part where all they sell were pets! It was damn cheap because shih tzu was selling for about RM280 only, and that's even before bargaining!
Too bad we were running out of time.
We went to chinatown for lunch and headed back to hotel to check out before leaving to the airport.
Because i came back with lotsa new friends!!
Now, say HELLO to them will you?
Suprisingly, no shoes. HAHAHA. I'm so proud of myself.
... but plenty of clothes enough to last the entire 15 days of CNY!
ps: I just noticed that there's alot of polka dots... haha.
pps: I'll be back!
